Norma B. Hogue Obituary, Death – On Friday, October 13, 2023, Norma B. Hogue, 95, of Oil City, went away quietly at the Caring Place in Franklin. She was born in Franklin on April 29, 1928, the youngest of the late Carl D. and Ethalyn Lesher Baker’s six children. She belonged to Grace United Methodist Church and attended services there. For many years, Norma was a member of the church choir. For the majority of her life, Norma was a homemaker. She first worked as a teacher aide for IU-6 after driving a van to and from school for students with special needs.

She loved baking and crafting, and she was a theatergoer at heart. She cherished her animals, especially her two dogs, Amber and Missy, who have passed the rainbow bridge, and her cats, King and Lady, who were her pride and joy. She wed John R. Hogue on June 23, 1947; he passed away on June 17, 1996, before her. 48 years were spent together by them.

Nine grandchildren, Jonathan Hogue and wife Jennifer, Mara Stypula and husband Mike, Robert and Katie Hogue, Jason Cassatt and wife Danielle, Rebecca Shaner and husband Chris, Lacey Bingle and husband CJ, Samantha Rice and husband David, Jamie Duarte and wife Kate Schell, and Kristen Andres, as well as fourteen great-grandchildren, including Ethan, Ryan, Derek, Elliot, Faith, Gemma, Mia, Briana, Claudia, Jacob, Charles, Lincoln, Brayden, and Kyle, are among the survivors.

A brother, Carl “Butch” Baker of Georgia, and his wife Pamela, along with a number of nieces and nephews, are also living. Apart from her parents and spouse, John R. Hogue, Norma’s siblings Betty Persing, Don Baker, Ken Baker, and Sharon Baker, as well as her granddaughter Jennifer Jane Cassett, before her in death. The Morrison Funeral Home will have a visitation on Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Following the visitation on Thursday evening, the Rev. Mark Rusnak will preside over funeral services, which start at 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Bethel Cemetery will be the site of interment. In honor of Norma, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choosing or to Grace United Methodist Church, 100 Central Ave., Oil City, PA 16301.
