WWE has seen many perilous matches over the years such as the Buried Alive and Inferno match. These bouts have only taken place a handful of times due to their dangerous nature, and they have only involved top stars.
Speaking on his Pro Wrestling 4 Life podcast, Sean ‘X-Pac’ Waltman revealed that he pitched to have an exploding deathmatch against Kane during their feud in WWE during the Attitude Era, but the higher-ups rejected his idea.
“I was trying to get an exploding bomb deathmatch with Kane for the blow-off to our feud but they f*cking ended up not letting us do it.”
As we have seen in AEW, an exploding bomb deathmatch sounds awesome on paper but a minor mistake could lead to a big flop if it fails to deliver. It’s highly unlikely that the same thing would’ve happened in WWE, as they’re on a bigger budget with a superior production.
